New Year, New You

It's that time of the year again.  As we get into 2013 we'll see many post on  Twitter and Facebook with the famous line, "New Year, New Me".  Aren't you guys tired of reading that nonsense?  How many people do you know that really follow through with their goals?  If you can name three then you're lucky.

For this New Year I have a recommendation that can prove to be easier than a "New Years Resolution".

I introduce to you.....

THE 30 DAY CHALLENGE

The 30 day challenge is simple, pick something to do or to stop for thirty days.  Here's a list of some of the things you can do.

  1. Learn a new word- pick a random word from the dictionary, learn it, and use it in a sentence that day.
  2. Stop drinking coffee-Some people find this difficult, but if you can go 30 days without coffee, you can surely stop consuming that caffeine monster.
  3. Master Origami- Stack up on some colorful paper and get to folding.
  4. Get in shape- Surely it takes longer than 30 days to get in great shape, but the point is to start, see your results and continue with the dedication.
  5. No Junk Food-  The major New Years resolution is lose weight.  In order to reach this goal see if you can go 30 days without eating any junk food.
  6. Write a letter-Choose 30 people you know and write them a letter.  This could be serious or funny, the point is to get your creative juices flowing.
  7.  Throw something away-  For 30 days, eliminate something from your closet, or dresser, or even under the bed.  You'll be surprised how much junk you just don't need.
  8. Push Ups-  Day 1, do as many push ups as you can, for every day after that do one more push up than you did the day before. You'll be "300 Spartan" ready by day 30 :)
  9. Run a mile a day- This isn't as difficult as it seems but if you can run a mile or more every day, by day 30 you'll be in better shape and you'll see how easier it gets for you to lace them up and hit the pavement.
  10. Artists at work-If you're an artist draw, write, or build something new every day for 30 days.
Here is a website that might help you get through the next 30 days.

So for everyone out there, if you know a New Years Resolution might be too much to handle, play it safe and knock something out for 30 days, you'll be surprised how easy it is for you to commit to something.

Have a safe and prosperous New Year!!
