Drugs in College

College is a time to experiment.  As humans you'll always find something new you like, or hate.  There are people out there who will try anything once, even drugs.  Here are some statistics I found.

"The study found that college students have higher rates of alcohol or drug addiction than the general public: 22.9% of students meet the medical definition for alcohol or drug abuse or dependence ׀ a compulsive use of a substance despite negative consequences ׀ compared with 8.5% of all people 12 and older."

Those numbers put things into perspective.  One thing that I have always found disturbing is when students go out clubbing or party hopping, and begin to drink uncontrollably.  The majority of people drink what ever they're handed and that my friends is where things can turn for the worse.

If you haven't heard of these, then you might be in trouble.  Date rape drugs are a gateway to sexual assault.  These drugs have no odor, color, or taste so you can get drugged, and not even know it!  Knowledge is key.  When you go out to these random bars and parties, never leave your drink behind.  Leaving your drink behind makes it easy for someone to slip something into it.

For a quick second just picture yourself waking up in a random dark place, scared and alone.
Sounds scary doesn't it?

As dramatic as that scenario might have been, it could  happen.

Next time you're at a party, remember what Leo said, "Don't leave your drink alone, you might regret it".

P.s, I have another blog where I write short stories and poems. This one is slightly related to this post so

Also, go visit our new website www.berkeleyknightline.com and check out some of the other bloggers. They blog about fashion, living in NYC, being an athlete, an alumni, being college bound, and even our very own President Cortes' blog!
