Tips for Dorm Rooms & Roommates

Living in a dorm room might be exciting or a tad bit hectic on the mind.  If you're starting school for the first time, a dorm room might sound like a great new place to call home.  Some people love having a roommate while others hate it.  Check out a couple of the interviews I've done with some friends on their roommate experiences.

So if you're in a dorm room with a roommate, there are a few things you need to keep in mind.

1. Rules-  When moving into a new place with a roommate, you want to be aware of what can go down, and what can't.  Yes, it'll take sometime to get into the habit of things, but setting some type of ground rules can prove to be helpful in the long run.  Especially if your roommate as a weird obsession with gnomes.

2.Personalize your space-  If you have a roommate, you'll want your "corner" to be as much yours as possible.  Put up posters, pictures, Fatheads, what ever makes you feel at home.

3.Consideration- Using headphones instead of blasting a radio is definitely considerate. You are now in a space with another person so being considerate to them is always a good thing.  No one really wants to hate their roommate so if you can avoid being a pain in the butt, do so.

4.Food- Sharing is caring right?  Well sometimes fights start over who ate the last Pop-tart.  Well, who ate it? Seriously tho, if you have to label your food then do so.  Ripping off your roommates head over a Pop-tart isn't nice now is it?

5. Clothing and space-  The majority of the time, dorm rooms aren't that spacious so keep your items as consolidated as possible is always a good thing.  If you have to buy storage bins galore, do so.  Or you can do this fancy tricks to all your T-shirts.

I tried....yeah I wasn't as successful.
