Group Projects

Some people love it, some people hate it.  Working in a group can be fun, insightful, and beneficial.  On the other hand working in a group can prove to be the most stressful thing you have ever done.

Have you ever been put in a group where there's that one person who is the most annoying creature known to man?

I'm talking so annoying that as soon as they speak you want to get up and do this.

Everyone in college has had those group members, and they can easily drive you insane.

It is always best to keep a couple of things in mind when dealing with group members.

7 tips to keep you sane

1. Characteristics- Each group member is different.  Learning the strengths and weaknesses of your group members can prove to be beneficial to the overall all outcome.

2. Individual contribution-  Once you figure out who is good at what, you can then see how people maintain their part of the project.

3.Professor's Knowledge-  Always make sure the professor knows early on if there is one person who seems to be the slacker.  It is good to keep your professor aware of these things.

4.Communication-  Talk as much as you can with your group members.  Exchange numbers, emails, and even twitter names to maintain communication.

5.Patience- Some people are difficult to work with.  If you can keep a steady mind, you can get the work done.

6.Setting up meetings-  Sometimes people need to be around others to get motivated enough to get their group work done.  Set up meetings on campus or off to make sure you guys are up to date on what every member should be doing.

7.Pick up the slack-  If all else fails, picking up the slack of a lazy group member shows that you are a leader, and that you care about the final grade.  Professors usually grade in your favor when you have to pick up the slack.

At the end of the day, your grade is on the line so if you want to get a good grade on that project just do what has to be done.

Catch you next time,
